James L. Seay, III.

James takes pride in helping his clients approach their legal problems systematically, intelligently, and efficiently. His practice encompasses a broad range of business law and commercial real estate issues in both litigation and transactional matters. He also devotes a portion of his practice to estate planning and estate administration.  From time to time, James also serves as a court appointed guardian ad litem in guardianship proceedings.

James graduated second in his class at Campbell School of Law.  During law school, he interned with Justice Newby at the North Carolina Supreme Court and served as Chief Submissions Editor on the Campbell Law Review.

Before graduating law school, James honorably served his country in the United States Army as a forward observer (13 foxtrot) and COLT (Combat Operation and Lasing Team) member in the United States Cavalry.

In 2020, James received the Addison Hewlett Jr. Award from the New Hanover County Bar Association for exceptional pro bono legal services for his successful representation of Legal Aid clients in landlord-tenant litigation.
